John Keegan's The First World War is already established as the classic single volume history of the conflict. This large format edition gives an illustrative treatment both of the political and historical issues of the war, and of the experience of fighting it throughout the world on land, at sea and in the air. John Keegan, The Defence editor of the Daily Telegraph, has written several books on military history. He was for many years the senior lecturer in military history at the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst, and he has been a fellow of Princeton University and Delmas Distinguished professor of History at Vassar. He is a fellow of the Royal Society of Literature. He received the OBE in the gulf war honours list, and was knighted in the Millennium Honours list.
